The Art of Rostrato Glass
Scilla's most recognizable feature is its extraordinary exterior texture.
The process begins with a coloured glass body that forms the basin. Additional molten glass is applied around its outer surface, creating a layer of material that the glassmakers work while it remains intensely hot.
Using specialized tools, they pull the softened glass outward, spike by spike, forming the distinctive rostrato decoration.
The technique demands precision and careful temperature control, particularly when working with a substantial mass of molten glass.
The finished result is a dramatic contrast between the functional interior of the washbasin and its sculptural exterior.
Twelve Colours for a Distinctive Bathroom
Scilla offers a broad range of polished finishes, from Clear, Black, Blue and Amethyst to Grey, Amber, Red, Orange and more expressive colour combinations.
For an especially striking interpretation, choose Black with 24k Gold or Aquamarine with Silver Leaf.
Gradient options, including Red fading to Clear and Green fading to Aquamarine, introduce another dimension through changing colour.
Each variation allows the washbasin to become part of a different interior design concept.
