"The Plague Doctor"
In the past centuries, Venice was hit by the plague several times.
The "armor" of the plague doctor was born during the epidemic in 1630, and it covered the doctor until the feet, while hands and heads were covered by gloves and headgear.
The crooked beak, charachteristic of the mask, was meant to be used as container of herbs which, by that time, were believed to prevent the doctor to be infected by the plague.
