Gotham's character comes from a process that continues long after the glass leaves the furnace.
The vase is initially shaped while the glass is hot, establishing its fundamental form.
Once cooled, it moves to the coldshop, where skilled artisans flatten and polish its surfaces using different types of abrasives.
This second stage gives Gotham its distinctive geometric appearance.
The polished surfaces interact with the surrounding light, creating reflections and refractions that change as you move around the piece.
It's this contrast between the fluidity of molten glass and the precision of the finished form that makes Gotham particularly compelling.
