Giza Chandelier: Contemporary Murano Glass Lighting with Textured Leaves
Giza explores a more modern direction for the traditional Murano glass chandelier.
Handcrafted by Roberto Beltrami and his team at the Wave furnace, the design combines a contemporary composition with an unusual decorative feature: clear glass frit melted into the leaf-shaped elements.
Rather than relying on strong colour contrasts or elaborate traditional ornament, Giza uses transparency and texture to create its visual identity.
A Distinctive Glassmaking Detail
The chandelier's defining feature is the clear glass frit incorporated into its decorative leaves.
This treatment introduces texture into the glass, creating additional surfaces for light to interact with.
When illuminated, the leaf-shaped elements catch and reflect light in different ways, giving the chandelier greater visual depth without introducing a dominant colour.
The result is a more restrained interpretation of Venetian decorative lighting, where the craftsmanship becomes apparent through the details rather than through excessive ornament.
Contemporary Proportions for Distinctive Interiors
Measuring approximately 80–85 cm high and 65 cm in diameter, Giza offers a balanced scale for a statement chandelier.
Its proportions make it suitable for dining rooms, living spaces, entrances and interiors where decorative lighting should attract attention without overwhelming the surrounding architecture.
The transparent glass also gives Giza considerable versatility.
It can complement neutral interiors, contemporary furniture and natural materials while maintaining a recognizable Murano glass identity.
Crafted in Murano
Giza is entirely handmade in Wave's Murano furnace by Roberto Beltrami and his team.
The glass frit decoration is an integral part of the design, demonstrating how a specific glassmaking detail can give a familiar lighting object a different personality.
The chandelier can also be crafted upon commission, making it relevant for individual residential and interior design projects.
Make the Light Part of the Design
Giza is particularly appealing for interiors where lighting is intended to be both functional and decorative.
During the day, the transparent glass interacts with natural reflections. Once illuminated, the textured leaves become more pronounced, adding another layer of visual interest.
Choose Giza when you want the character of a Venetian glass chandelier with a more contemporary attitude. Its combination of transparent glass and textured detailing gives your room a focal point that reveals its beauty gradually, through light and craftsmanship.
